Day tours -Small group:
Blaca Monastery and Mount St. Vid
Blaca Hermitage and Vidova gora (Mount St. Vid)
This tour, accompanied by a tour guide, starts with a drive to the starting point of the walk for the Blaca Hermitage.
On our way there we pass through the central parts of the island, made of hills and fields, and if you’re lucky enough to be here at spring you will enjoy blossomed cherries and almonds. Their gentle flowers make everything seem covered with a magical veil.
We shall walk down towards the beautiful sixteenth century monastery, was founded below a huge natural rock by the Glagolitic monks fled here from the mainland region of Poljica before the Ottoman Turks. This isolated monastery, situated amidst untouched nature, is a proof of the man's work and persistency. You will be impressed by the story behind this well known astronomic centre, built amid the Brač karst.
After visiting the monastery with the local guide, follows a rest for a snack or picture taking. This place makes a peace oasis where you can afford yourself a complete relaxation before returning through the Blaca canyon to our car.
After the gathering, we drive slowly to the island's highest peak – Vidova gora, 778 m high. This is the highest peak of all Adriatic islands, providing an astonishing view over the islands of Hvar and Vis, and, in fine weather, even Italy.
We will spend some time here enjoying the breathtaking view, eventually to return back to Supetar. Experience the true spirit of the island in just a few hours!
